StopScrolling

Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

StopScrolling is a local-first browser extension that helps you use Instagram Web intentionally. This policy describes version 0.1.0.

What the extension accesses

StopScrolling accesses Instagram Web's rendered structure locally so it can recognize supported interface surfaces and apply the controls you choose. It may transiently compare a tiny fixed allowlist of Instagram interface labels. It does not retain or transmit that text.

What stays on your device

Accepted settings, onboarding state, reduced-motion preference, content-free detector health, recovery receipts, and aggregate Activity totals are stored locally. Activity retains the most recent 30 local days and all-time totals for category duration, Instagram foreground duration, session count, feed-post count, and temporary-access override count. There is no durable Story-view count.

Temporary tab coordination, counters, Intent proof progress, Reel lease, pending Activity, overrides, and deadlines last only for the browser session or their shorter stated deadline.

What is not collected

StopScrolling does not store or transmit passwords, cookies, authentication tokens, usernames, captions, posts, Stories, messages, searches, URLs, media, screenshots, DOM text, or Instagram session data.

Network activity and sharing

This version makes no developer-controlled network requests, includes no analytics or advertising code, and contains no remote code. Opening Instagram still causes Instagram-owned page traffic. Device-local settings and aggregates are not synced, sold, or shared with third parties.

Retention and deletion

The Activity view's Reset activity action deletes 30-day and all-time Activity totals without changing settings. Reset all local data restores accepted defaults and clears Activity, onboarding, the current session, counters, temporary access, and recovery state. Browser uninstall removes extension storage according to browser behavior. No developer server holds a copy.

StopScrolling is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. Material policy changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. For privacy or support questions, email hello@theblazeoffice.com.
